What is at Stake in the Creation-Evolution Debate?

Creation and Evolution: Two Antagonistic Belief Systems

The origin of the universe, of life, of the different organisms on earth and of mankind is basically explained in two different ways: evolution and creation. While evolution teaches that everything evolved spontaneously without any divine intervention, the Bible reveals that the world was created supernaturally by an Almighty God. Therefore these two explanations are diametrically opposed to one another.

Evolution and creation have never been observed to occur and cannot be tested experimentally, therefore they are two belief systems and world-views. The former is an atheistic, materialistic ideology invented by some fallible men. It denies the existence of God and the angels, of heaven and the lake of fire, the special Creation, the immortality of the soul and the Judgment. Creationism on the other hand is a theistic belief system based on the Word of God. Contrary to what we are led to believe, science and new discoveries support the theistic system, not the atheistic one.

Evolution Undermines Christianity and Morality

At the first glance, the creation/evolution issue doesn’t seem very important. But if we look back on the last one hundred and fifty years that have passed since Darwin published his book On the Origin of Species, we can say that the evolutionary theory played a very important role in weakening and destroying Christianity. This ideology alienates men from God, demoralizes and brutalizes entire societies.

“The evolutionary philosophy says, ‘There is no God. All is the result of chance randomness. Death and struggle are the order of the day, not only now but indefinitely into the past and future.’ If this is true, there is no basis for right and wrong. In the book of Judges we read that when they had no king to tell them what to do, they all did what was right in their own eyes. When there is no absolute authority, you can do whatever is convenient to you. And if people start believing in a world view called evolution, they are going to say, ‘There is no God. Why should I obey authority? Why should there be rules against aberrant sexual behaviour? Why should there be rules against abortion? After all, evolution tells us we are all animals…’”

“Increasing lawlessness (no one owns me, there are no rules); abortion (we’re all just animals anyway); marriage breakdown (Jesus’ teaching on marriage and divorce always went back to the historical basis in Genesis) and ever more open homosexual practices are just some of the fruits being reaped by a society rearing its young in this anti-biblical world view.”

Darwin must have been aware of the effects his theory would have on society. Adam Sedgwick (1785–1873), one of the founders of geology as science in England, was convinced that Darwin’s real intention was “to make us independent of a Creator” and his theory “is a dish of rank materialism cleverly cooked and served up” (see Adam Sedgwick). Did Darwin take part in a secret Satanic conspiracy bent on destroying Christianity or was he unaware that he was doing the work of Satan? Only God can tell, but we will find it out one day.

Evolution Makes Atheists of People

Today’s leading evolutionists are fully conscious that they can’t prove their theory or the non-existence of God. In spite of all the evidence, they still cling to their ideas because they want at all costs to explain the origin of the world without a Creator. Evolutionists are committed atheists and want to propagate their dogmas.

“Evolution is, indeed, the pseudoscientific basis of religious atheism, as Ruse pointed out. Will Provine at Cornell University is another scientist who frankly acknowledges this.’ As the creationists claim, belief in modern evolution makes atheists of people. One can have a religious view that is compatible with evolution only if the religious view is indistinguishable from atheism.’”

Creation vs. Evolution—Christianity vs. Ungodliness

“What we have is not just creation versus evolution, not just an academic debate about science. It is Christianity with its absolutes and its basis in creation, versus humanism and its basis in evolution and its claim that all morality is relative. In other words, the fight is between two religions and you are seeing that clash right now in our society.”

Abortion
Approximately 25 million legal abortions are performed worldwide each year. 56 countries in the world allow abortion on demand: the Communist Cuba, Mongolia, Vietnam, North Korea, and China; the 15 successor states to the Soviet Union; 11 formerly Communist countries in Eastern Europe; some Western European countries; USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, and another 12 or so countries. Except for the last ones, all these countries are either “developed” countries permeated by evolution, or Communist countries where the teaching of evolution has been—and still is—the rule. Abortion is also permitted in many other countries, but with some restrictions. The formerly Communist countries of Europe and the former states of the Soviet Union have the highest proportion of pregnancies ended by abortion in the world. In Romania, which is at the head of the list, 75-80% of all pregnancies end in abortion, amounting to 800,000 abortions each year. In Russia, which was the first country to legalize abortion in 1920 after the Bolsheviks took power, two out of three pregnancies end in abortion, which means around 3 million abortions every year. In Poland on the other hand, which was a Communist country, but has strong Christian traditions, abortion laws are among the most restrictive ones in Europe.
Divorce
Among the adverse effects that the evolutionary world view and atheism has had on our society is divorce. In recent years, divorce has become very widespread, tearing apart family after family. The institution of marriage for life was given by God in the Book of Genesis: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Gen. 2:24). Jesus Christ condemned divorce: “…so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Mark 10:8-9), “And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery…” (Matt. 19:9).As the evolutionary philosophy and atheism prevailed in our society, “divorce-on-demand” was legalized. In the USA for example, in 1870, when Christianity and a belief in God was prevalent, there were only 3 divorces for every 100 marriages. This number rose to 13% by 1920, and it was 26% in the ’60-s. Following the introduction of evolution in school, and no-fault divorce laws, the rate of divorce rose sharply to 48% by 1975. Today every second marriage—which God had ordained for life—breaks up, with highly damaging effects for both the children, and the adults themselves.
